SISI TAUFATOFUA
MENTAL HEALTH INTERN, GROUP FACILITATOR

Sisi has worked for Sorensonís Ranch on and off for nearly 18 years. She is originally from Koosharem, Utah, where she grew up on a farm, milking cows, and raising all kinds of animals. She enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activities like camping, fishing, skiing, tubing, swimming, and also hiking in the beautiful national parks that surround Koosharem. She received her A.A. from Utah Valley State College, in Provo, Utah. She received her B.A. from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. After having four children, she went back to school to get her Masters in Professional Counseling from the University of Phoenix where she is still working on her hours of internship.

Sisi started here at Sorensonís Ranch doing everything from answering phones to cleaning cabins. She then spent many years as a case manager, library assistant, secretary, substitute teacher, and group leader assistant before working in the therapy department. She took large amounts of time off to go to school and see other parts of the world. She lived for almost two years in Honduras, Central America, and most recently spent another year living abroad with her family on the island of Tonga in the South Pacific.

Sisi had always wanted to work in the field of therapy, but had originally wanted to work as an outdoor recreational therapist due to her love of the outdoors. When the opportunity came along, however, for her to get her masters degree she thought it was too good to be true and has enjoyed that field of study tremendously. She has had additional training in group therapy, drug and alcohol abuse and dependence, dual diagnosis, and other areas of interest.

Sisi lives here in the town of Koosharem with her husband and five children. She loves Koosharem and says she will spend the rest of her life here in this small community that allows her to raise her children in a good place and work doing something she loves. She still spends much time in the outdoors and teaching her children to appreciate nature. Also she continues to enjoy traveling, but with five kids the traveling is usually to closer locations now. It is also her hope to learn new activities this next year including gardening. Sisi enjoys painting, scrap-booking, sewing, and refinishing antique furniture.
